3rd Sunday of Easter

Just a brief thought!  There is one line in yesterday’s Gospel that I can’t seem to let go of.  It’s when Peter says “I’m going fishing” What?  Seriously?  What is he thinking?  Certainly not about going to work, to his old job.  No, I think it’s about taking a break, getting away from it all.  After all they have been through and seen, Peter recognizes he needs to get away, to do something he enjoys, something that relaxes and calms him.  Anyone who’s a fisherman knows what I’m talking about.  Long hours of sitting and waiting, doing nothing!  And then a few short minutes of furious activity reeling in that fish.

Peter needs some time to just step away, to clear his head and calm his heart.  So say we all!  Whether it’s by choice or not, that time away from the world and all its care and stress is important and necessary.  Take the time!  Whenever it presents itself, take that time!
